Joseph Muraskin

Joseph Muraskin was born in New York City on December 27,1926.

Education : Syracuse University, BA (History, including art courses) 1949 New York University School of Law — LLB 1952 and LLM 1955.

Art Education : NYU, Division of General Studies — Evenings& weekends (art, drawing, oil Painting and mixed media)1953-65, Broward Community College (oil painting and mixed media) 1998 — 2000

During the 1950’s and 60’s, painted prolifically, influenced largely by the New York School of Abstract Expression, which had burst upon and dominated the art world at that time. After moving to Florida in December 1993, resumed painting, working at Broward Community College and Art & More Gallery in Pembroke Park.

In New York exhibited at City Center Art Gallery.
In Florida, Salon De Refuses at 721 Gallery in 2002, sponsored by the Broward Art Guild.

His solo exhibit at Art & More Gallery consists of 35 paintings (33 oils and 2 ink & watercolor). 28 oils were completed in the last 3
years. 6 were completed between 1953 and 1965.

His paintings have been in a “City Link” sponsored show and numerous exhibits at Broward Art Guild. Muraskin was the featured artist in City Link’s July 30, 2003 edition (click here for the review), and he was listed as one of South Florida’s 46 Best artists in the September 3rd edition.

His paintings were featured in a group show at Schacknow Museum of Fine Artist in Plantation Florida, beginning December 13th, till February 14th, 2004
